Summer Time

As we hit the first week of July, there is still a lot of work to be done to be ready for school in the fall. Interviewing for open positions is our most important task (one additional high school resignation came in this week) followed by training teachers in math and literacy. This fall each of our schools will receive a “report card” from the Department of Public Instruction that will indicate how we are doing academically overtime, and how we are doing with closing the achievement gaps among students. The public will get to see these report cards in early October. Accountability is a good thing. It keeps us on our toes. More importantly, however, we do our jobs because we have an obligation to students – all students – to help them reach their potential.

On another note, the District’s new strategic plan can now be found on the District web site. Please take time to read it. Can you make the commitments others have regarding our mission and vision areas?
